Individual project '(On)geluk'

When you are walking on the street, do you often think about what is going on in the heads of the people around you?

I do! And just like we all do, I judge people by there appearance. For my individual project in the third year of my education I wanted to visualize this so people can literally experience what unconsciously happens every single day. There is a story behind every person and during this project and exposition your are giving these eleven impressive story's a minute of your time.

In 10 weeks I interviewed eleven people who experienced something beautiful, heavy, scary or special in there life and made a portrait picture of them. I did not put the story's next to the portrait they belong to. The intention is that people first read the eleven story's and after that they can have a look at the different portraits. Which story belongs to which person? And why? On every portrait I stitched a little detail of my interview with them. That was to help people but also to confuse them.

For me this project was not about making the right combination between persons and story's. It was about awareness of what people you don't know are going true and that you shouldn't judge them by there face.
